yankee springs time trial trail day

Get ready to ride by getting ready to lop at Yankee Springs.

The surest sign of spring is mud. But since we’re all being really careful to avoid riding muddy trails, maybe the best sign of the new season is digging out your loppers! We’re calling on all our allies for April 14th’s Yankee Springs Trail Day. Each spring, we bring the mountain bike community together to get ‘The Devil’s Soup Bowl’ primped and primed for our biggest fundraiser of the year.

This year will be the 29th annual edition of the Yankee Springs Time Trial, an event that started just as mountain biking came to live. For so many cyclists, Yankee Springs was the first dip into mountain biking; a first race, a first ride, a first chance to get dirty and fall in love with bikes. Because we know that this race is often the proverbial toe in the water, we always pull out all the stops to make sure the trail is in immaculate shape for racers of all abilities.

We’ll be meeting at the Deep Lake Trailhead at 9 am. We’ll have rakes, loppers and other trail implements, but if you’ve got some you’re really partial to, bring them! Each work crew will take care of a different section of the trail to clear branches, face-slappers, and identify any heavy duty work needed to be addressed with bigger equipment.

Since it could be warm, and you’ll be going through a few quarts of elbow grease, make sure you bring a nice big water bottle. And since you’ll work up an appetite, don’t worry, we’ll have lunch ready for you when we’re all done!

Thank you for investing your time in the trails, and we’ll see you on April 14 to make those trails even better!
