WMMBA Luton MTB Trail Day

We have a number of important Trail Days coming up, plus a chance to help revamp our beloved GR Bike Park.

Spring is starting to look suspiciously like summer! As we transition to great weather, long days, and perfect conditions for riding, we’re working to make sure our network trails are ready for the increased traffic, events, and all our favorite annual rides. We already had a great turn out the Merrell Trail Day this past weekend, but if you missed out, no worries; we’ve got plenty of chances to pitch in!

For these work days, plan on bringing gloves, tools, a water bottle, and a sense of adventure! Rakes, loppers, and other light hand tools are usually all you’d need; if we need anything more sturdy, we’ll provide it.

Saturday, May 12. Cannonsburg Ski Area.

We’re going to keep our cleaning up moving along this weekend at the Ski Hill. We’ll have a few hot spots we’ll focus on, in addition to a trail-wide clean-up of debris. The clean-up starts at 9am, and we’ll plan on finishing up around noon. And yes, lunch is on us!

Saturday, May 19. Ionia Rec Area.

This one is huge! We’re getting Ionia Recreation Area ready to rock before the M-66 Time Trial on June 9th. We’ll be putting in a special effort to establish sustainable trail bed, clear debris, and trim back the face slappers! We’ll work from 10am to noon.

Saturday, June 9. Luton Park.

Friends of Luton Park are hosting their spring trail day on June 9! We’re planning on trimming, chopping, and clearing the trail ahead of a busy riding season. We’ll have many of the tools you’ll need, but if you have a favorite rake or hoe, hey, we get it; feel free to bring it along.

These work days are the continuation of our efforts to bring together all of our Trail Allies to offer everyone in our area a better, more enjoyable trail experience. As a part of the many changes at WMMBA, we’re adopting a new emphasis on local effort and support that starts with keeping all memberships and donations local, where they can do the most good for the most people. The support for our trails, for our sport, and for our community has always been overwhelming; let’s keep it growing.

If you haven’t committed yet, now is the time. Become an ally today.
