Watch Out For Loose Dawgs!

If you were riding at Luton Monday, you probably had a few loose Dirt Dawgs nipped at your heels!

School is out, summer is here, and we finally know who let the Dawgs out. Grand Rapids Bicycle Co., a big WMMBA supporter and a very active organization in the community, hosts a weekly youth ride all summer long to help more kids and families enjoy time on the trails and get comfortable on two wheels. The Dirt Dawgs program has been a huge success over the past few seasons, and 2018 is off to a great start.

The program seeks to foster an environment of inclusiveness, healthy activity, and appreciation for nature and trail stewardship. When you see the Dawgs out in the woods, remember, these are the riders who will be taking over West Michigan Mountain Bike Alliance in the next few decades, and we need each and everyone to know that no matter where life takes them, they can always take a bike to a trail and feel at home.

Dirt Dawgs will be at Luton each Monday this summer, with rides starting at 5:15 and ending around 7:45. If you’re planning on riding Luton on Mondays, make sure you have your eyes peeled for the Little, Junior, and Big Dawgs out there riding, too! Give them a big cheer and ample warning that you’re around so they aren’t startled. The Dawgs will also be practicing Wednesday nights at the Cannonsburg Ski Area during the same time frame, so make sure you give them a big high-five when they pass you…because it’s only a matter of time before they do!
