It’s always amusing when someone asks, “what do you do in your off season?”. For many of us, the tires get fatter, we add a few more layers and we strap on lights!
Join us this Thursday evening at Cannonsburg ski area where we will be focusing on “the off-season” riding and fitness options. Heidi LaPlante from Cycling XT (soon to be The Shift) will be discussing in-door training, Jill Martindale will say a few words about her experience at the Nite National race and we’ll hear some highlights from, world class mountain biker, Danielle Musto and her race in Scotland! We tell you what’s new with the WMMBA as well.
Cannonburg will be opening their doors and will have food and beverages available.
Also, bring your bike and your lights and come early as we will be hitting the trails for a pre-meeting ride at 5:45. If you’ve never ridden the trails at night, we will make sure we won’t loose you.
Ride time 5:45 (ish)
Meet and mingle 7PM
Meeting time 7:30PM
Hope to see you there!
We have a great meeting shaping up for this months WMMBA member meeting!
We will be doing the “winter riding” edition with a focus on the fatty! That’s of course, the fat-bike! Fat-bikes went from being a “what the heck is that” type thing to one of the fastest selling type of bikes out there. We’ll have some of the folks that have been riding, selling and working on these smile inducing contraptions, sharing their experiences and wisdom and telling why they love their fatty!
We’ll also have some tips on ways to keep fit during the winter months (that some call the off season) and ideas on how to get you ready for spring/summer race season.
We’ll tell you what the WMMBA has up their sleeve this year, new trails, rides, races and events.
Plus, we will be doing a pre-meeting fat-bike ride on the brand new Cannonsburg groomed Fat-bike/XC ski trails! Ride time will be around 5:30PM (there is a small fee to ride the new trails).
Don’t own a fat-bike yet? No problem, we’ve asked several of our local shops to bring some of their finest two wheeled steeds for you to try out!
Cannonsburg will have some tasty food and drink specials for your after ride re-fueling!
So speed the word and see you there!
Lots of folks have been asking about the Fatbike trail at Cannonsburg…here is the latest!

WMMBA “Turkey Burner Ride“.
Once again this ride will be held on the Friday following Thanksgiving (November 29th, 2013) at the Deep Lake trailhead, Yankee Springs Recreation Area. Arrive in time to depart the parking lot at 10:00am+/- plan on riding for a couple hours. Enjoy the holiday with the last organized WMMBA Ride of 2013. All levels are invited, as we will break into 2 or 3 groups depending on the speed and experience of those in attendance.
The Deep Lake trail is open to riding during the deer hunting season, it is also open to deer hunters. Please use good sense and wear bright clothing. Yes, it may be ugly, and out of style, but you just never know what you may win a prize for at one of these rides. And, you’ll be safer!
Following the ride, there are several places to meet friends for lunch local to the area: The Sand Bar on M-179 just west of Briggs Rd (Shell Station at corner), serving local MI. beers and good food. Or try the Waldorf Brewery in downtown Hastings serving great food and their local beers.
Please pass this along to your friends and we’ll see you for the Turkey Burner. RSVP not required, just show up and feel that turkey burn
