Some long awaited changes are finally happening at Yankee. The big news is that beginning on 15 August 16, we will begin alternating the direction of travel by day of the week. I know, shocker right? We’ve tried this out and we think it’s going to be a ton of fun and will add some challenges to an already challenging trail. It’s kinda like getting 13 miles of trail for free because everything looks so different going in the reverse direction.
The directions will be posted at all start and other remote entry locations of course but essentially, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will follow the Yellow arrows in the reverse direction to what we’ve always done. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday will follow the Red arrows in the normal direction.
To make this a bit easier to sign, we’ve cut in a new connector trail to the warmup loop. The entry to the warmup loop is adjacent to the exit of the loop just west of the pit toilet in the parking lot. The current entry to the warmup loop and the exit to the main loop up near Yankee Springs road will be closed so all the entry and exit traffic will be at the west end of the parking lot. This eliminates having to ride up/down the driveway to enter the trails.
Sorry for the long winded post but this is a lot of information to get out in time for ya’ll to get used to the idea. Will the roll-out be perfect? Probably not but we’ll do our best to make it clean and clear. Your feedback will be much appreciated and we really hope you enjoy some new challenges at Yankee.
